Hole 4

A hole that traditionally plays as a par 5, it will be played as a par 4 for the championship. Tee shots need to favor the middle portion of the fairway. A tee shot hit down the right side will normally end up in the right rough. Most players will have a mid-to-long iron for their second shot. A right-front bunker guards the approach to a flag stick setting on the right. A left hole location will yield more birdies as approach shot may be run up to the green. This is the hole that cost Byron Nelson the 1946 U.S. Open when his caddie inadvertently kicked his ball.
