Remembering the 2002 Junior PGA Championship:
Defending girls' division champion In-Bee Park collected her second consecutive title, winning the Junior PGA Championship by nine strokes over Jenny Suh. In the boys' division, Tyler Aldridge, 17, posted a final-round 1-over-par 72 to complete a wire-to-wire victory.
The victory by the Korean-born Park marked the sixth time the Championship had an internationally-born winner. She closed with an impressive final-round 66, which included seven birdies and only two bogeys. (Recently, Park made additional headlines as the 2008 Women's U.S. Open Champion.)
Aldridge -- the Rocky Mountain Junior PGA Champion -- overcame a double-bogey on the 17th hole to hold on for a one-stoke victory over Adam Porzak. Aldridge's final-round 72 included three birdies.
On Aug. 13-16, TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio will host the summer's premier junior championship, the Junior PGA Championship, as The PGA of America celebrates the 33rd edition of a Championship that has been the stepping stone for many of today's foremost players.
The field of 156 players will be comprised of one boy and one girl Champion from each of the 41 PGA Section, winners of selected national junior tournaments conducted earlier in the year and past Junior PGA Championship winners who have not reached their 19th birthdays and have not yet started college.
