PGA and Golf Channel announce multi-year agreement, one-hour specials

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- The PGA of America and Golf Channel announced a multi-year agreement that will feature a series of five one-hour specials, prime time coverage of The PGA Professional National Championship, the PGA Grand Slam of Golf clinic, pre- and post-event news conference coverage at the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup and public service announcements that promote PGA Professionals, Play Golf America among a wide range of Association business and membership opportunities.

"The PGA of America is pleased to continue its partnership with Golf Channel, the voice of the game on air and a loyal supporter of the PGA Professional," said PGA of America President Brian Whitcomb. "As our Association continues its efforts to bring new players to the game, we join Golf Channel and its talented staff in promoting PGA Professionals as the experts in the game and the business of golf."

Since its debut in 1995, Golf Channel is available in more than 110 million homes worldwide through cable, satellite and wireless companies.

"The Golf Channel's long association with The PGA of America has been very rewarding," said Golf Channel President Page Thompson. "We're honored that we can continue to work in tandem to bring great events to our viewers, as well as grow the game of golf."

The PGA of America and Golf Channel's agreement features:

--Prime time four-round coverage of the 41st PGA Professional National Championship, with first- and second-round broadcasts, Thursday, June 19 and Friday, June 20, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and third- and final-round coverage Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. The National Championship also will be re-aired June 19-22, from 2:30 a.m. to 4:00 a.m., and June 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

--Five one-hour special featuring the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship; the Junior PGA Championship, the Junior Ryder Cup and PGA Cup.

--Live coverage of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf Champions Clinic.

--The Road to the PGA Championship -- a one-hour special that debuts on CBS which follows the path of 20 PGA Professionals who earned their berth into the Season's Final Major. The program will re-air on Golf Channel prior to Championship Week.

--Coverage of pre-event and post-event news conferences at the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup.

--Public Service Announcements. Throughout the year, Golf Channel will feature PGA Professionals, Play Golf America and features on PGA employment and business opportunities.
